The reason Ptah-hotep's tomb is the best preserved at the entire Saqqara complex is very easily determined by the evidence available. Whereas much of the ruins and the tombs in this area was in ruins by 2000BC (it was 500+ years old at that time), the tomb of Ptah-hotep was important for other reasons. This tomb was maintained until 1200BC or so while the others were allowed to remain in a state of ruin. For this reason, the tomb of Ptah-Hotep is the best maintained evidence of a tomb from the fifth dynasty. Fortunately, our Bible explains why this is.
